Learn BSL With Witchlets UK CIC
As you may know, Witchlets UK CIC prides itself on its inclusivity. That is why we are absolutely honoured to be working with Victoria from Wild Magick to bring you a range of BSL Pagan and Heathen words!
What is BSL?
BSL, or British Sign Language, is a visual language that can be used to express any idea or feeling, and to discuss a wide range of topics.
BSL is not a copy of English but rather its own language, with its own grammar rules, nuances and order.
It’s the most common sign language in the UK, and was recognized as an official language of Britain in 2022. It is now also a recognised language GCSE, where children are expected to learn no less than 750 BSL words, as well as its history and complexities.
Although designed for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, BSL is open to everyone. In fact, the more people who learn it, the more inclusive as a nation we become!
Witchlets, along with Victoria, are putting together a catalogue of Pagan and Heathen BSL words, that you can use in your day to day communications. You might even consider incorporating it into your craft work, as visual aids are often potent at building intent.
